Helping People Recover
Our TraumaPhysio therapists are experts in their fields and will provide you with the most effective treatment available.
Below are some of the conditions we treat, but this is an indication only, not an exhaustive list. If you are unsure whether we would be able to help you, please contact us and we will give you an honest opinion!
Conditions Treated
Complex fractures (during and following surgical stabilisation)
Complex fractures involve multiple breaks and usually require a less routine approach to management. Soft tissue (such as muscles, tendons and ligaments) is also often affected and treatment needs to be focused on safe progression, within pain limits. This enables the muscles, joints and nerves to work better together and improves the outcome. At TraumaPhysio, we will always focus on your goals, and guide you to get back to whatever you love doing the most, as quickly as possible.
Conditions Treated
Amputation
After your stay in hospital, the work of getting your life back and returning to the things you love doing most begins. Physiotherapy treatment includes strength training, conditioning exercises and specific task retraining such as walking or running. We work with people in the community to return to all sorts of activities including the gym, snowsports, climbing and other sports.
Conditions Treated
Joint replacements
Rehabilitation after a joint replacement is tailored to the type of joint replacement and your aims. We will work with you to answer any questions, manage your pain and agree a treatment plan that is effective and achievable. TraumaPhysio rehab plans enable people to take control of their recovery and reach their personal goals, no matter what they are.
Conditions Treated
Joint dislocation
Following a joint dislocation it is common to have pain and weakness around the area. In addition to this, it is common to feel nervous about redislocating. At TraumaPhysio we concentrate on improving strength, stability and movement of the joint affected to give you the confidence to quickly get you back to doing what you enjoy most.
Conditions Treated
Post-fusion surgery
Rehabilitation following fusion surgery aims to maximise strength and movement. Our experienced physio team may initially focus on managing any symptoms, such as pain, that are a direct result of the surgery. We will then guide you in your recovery to improve movement, strength and function which supports your return to your normal routine.
Conditions Treated
Ligamentous injuries (conservatively managed or following reconstructive surgery)
The main aims after a ligament injury or after surgery for a ligament injury are to regain controlled movement and strength. Your orthopaedic physio will help you to manage any pain and develop a progressive rehabilitation plan to develop the strength and stability needed to get you back to your work, hobbies, sports and life as soon as possible.
Conditions Treated
Muscle tears and trauma
Muscle damage is likely to result in pain, swelling and bruising. This is a natural part of the healing process but if left unaddressed, it can lead to muscle weakness and prolonged recovery times. Sometimes when muscles are inhibited by pain, this can also affect the control and support of joints and fluidity of different movements. Rehabilitation focuses on minimising pain and regaining muscular strength and support to help you get back to your priorities as quickly as possible.
Conditions Treated
Severe cartilage injury
After a severe cartilage injury, pain, swelling, loss of range of movement and reduced muscle strength tend to be the main problems. Physio treatment would normally concentrate on pain management and gentle restoration of movement in the affected joint, whilst maximising muscle strength to support the joint and reduce the negative effects of any higher impact activities. Your orthopaedic trauma physiotherapist will also work with you to reduce your risk of future injury and prepare you for a return to any sport or interests.
