Specialist orthopaedic trauma physiotherapy following complex fractures, amputation, joint surgery or reconstruction.
Complex orthopaedic trauma refers to serious and severe skeletal and muscular injuries that are the direct result of an external force, such as a road traffic collision or fall from height.
Serious trauma can result in fractures (open or closed), dislocation, joint replacement, degloving and amputation. Complex trauma of this nature presents unique rehabilitation challenges and requires a process of continuous assessment and re-evaluation to ensure the best possible outcome and to prevent a lifetime of complications and physical impairment. The injury is not always life-threating, but it can be life-changing and have a profound physical, psychological and social impact on a person’s life.
Trauma Physio provides bespoke rehabilitation for each client based on personal and injury characteristics which is essential to optimise the outcome and ultimately lead to a return to pre-injury activities of daily living, work, sport, and interests. Our expert Physio team adopts an interdisciplinary approach to achieve aspirational, client-centred goals whilst supporting the claims process.
We’re Here To Help
We help people to reach their full potential and return to meaningful, value-based lives. Contact us today to see how we can help your client.
We listen carefully to the client’s aims and pride ourselves on agreeing a structured treatment plan that the client understands and feels motivated to work on.
Following instruction from a case manager or solicitor we will provide a comprehensive assessment and report including rehabilitation recommendations with costings. Upon completion of the sessions, we will complete an update report detailing improvements in relation to the clients aims, barriers to the planned intervention, goals and any further recommendations.
Our treatment is always led by the client’s aims and interdisciplinary goals. We are focused on making improvements meaningful to the client which can translate into their life, work, hobbies and sport. In light of this, we work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team to support the return to old activities or the pursuit of new ones. We strongly believe in setting aspirational targets whilst being realistic about time frames and suitability of a pursuit.
Within our recommendations, we may specify further gait and movement analysis (using Baiobit Motion Analysis), trial of functional electrical stimulation devices (FES), a home exercise programme and pursuit of community-based activities including the gym and sports clubs. We take an active role in supporting the client’s return to work where appropriate and liaise closely with other members of the team to facilitate this.
